History & Lineage (Karate)

Below is a graphical depiction of the Karate lineage (for Kobudo lineage, please click here) of Shintokukai President & Technical Director: David Walker Renshi as established and passed down through his teacher, Kikukawa Kyoshi in the ancient keishou tradition (keishou: individually inherited succession of knowledge from master to student). From Chibana Sensei, the founder of Shorin-ryu (Kobayashi), to Nakazato Sensei (one of Chibana Sensei's two most important students, the other being Miyahira Sensei) through on to Gibu Sensei and Kikukawa Sensei, our Shorin-ryu lineage contains some of the most respected names in the history of Okinawan Karate.

Indeed, it is not only the quality of a school's curriculum, which is of obvious importance, but also its history and lineage that determines its authenticity and authority as a representative institution of Karate.
